How to renew a SAM.gov registration for free

SAM.gov registration lasts 365 days and must be renewed to stay eligible for federal awards. Renewal is free at sam.gov — you never have to pay anyone to do it. Here is the official, no-cost path.

Renewal is free — always

The U.S. Government never charges you to register, renew, or update a SAM.gov registration. The General Services Administration (GSA) states plainly that registration in SAM.gov is always free.

Third-party companies may offer to handle renewal for a fee. That is a paid convenience service, not the government — and several such firms have been flagged by the BBB and FTC for implying government affiliation. You can always do it yourself for free.

Steps to renew at sam.gov

1. Sign in at sam.gov with your Login.gov account (the same one tied to your entity).

2. Go to your Workspace → Entity Management and select the registration that is expiring.

3. Choose 'Update/Renew' and step through each section: entity information, core data, assertions (NAICS/PSC), representations & certifications, and points of contact.

4. Confirm your banking (CAGE/financial) details are current, then submit. Allow several business days for the renewal to process and the new expiration date to post.

Check your status before and after

Before you start, confirm how many days remain on the current registration so you renew on time — SAM sends reminders at 60, 30, and 15 days. After submitting, re-check that the status shows active with a new expiration date.

You can check the public registration status here with a UEI or CAGE code, or directly on the official record at sam.gov.

SAM.gov registration and renewal are FREE at sam.gov. The U.S. Government never charges you to register, renew, or update a SAM.gov registration.

CageCheck is an independent, privately operated service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the U.S. Government, the General Services Administration (GSA), SAM.gov, or any government agency. The official registry is at sam.gov.
